About Jack Mahana

Jack Mahana is a CDL instructor and the founder of CDL Study Buddy, a free online platform that has helped over 500,000 aspiring truck drivers prepare for their commercial driver's license exams since 2013.

With more than 13 years of experience in commercial driver education, Jack has developed comprehensive, state-specific CDL practice tests covering all 50 states, as well as FMCSA-compliant Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) theory courses that are registered with the FMCSA Training Provider Registry (TPR).

Jack's approach is grounded in a simple belief: every aspiring truck driver deserves access to accurate, up-to-date study materials without cost barriers. This philosophy led to the creation of CDL Study Buddy's 100% free model — no paywalls, no hidden fees, and no “free trial” gimmicks.
